Where has the summer gone?
August 24, 2009
It’s hard to believe that August is almost at an end. Universities will return before we know it and there have been some rumblings about Christmas decorations on sale in some shops already!
We have noticed the pace hotting up here in the office. The number of new tenants moving in has increased drastically. In addition, we are receiving hundreds of calls and emails from prospective tenants, needing to find somewhere to live.
If you know anyone who needs to find a house or flat to rent, you could earn £50! Successful referrals for properties rented are rewarded. T&C’s do apply, but its really straight forward. Just ask one of the team for details.
That time of year again
May 21, 2009
It is amazing how quickly the year flies by. We are almost at the end of May…again!
There has been alot of press about an increase in the number of applications to go to uni. Wishing all those of you waiting for results or still revising well and good luck.
Our phones have been busy with people wanting to find a house, flat, or people to share with. Let us know if we can help you or anyone you know.
The 2008 challenge is a challenge indeed!
September 10, 2008
Little did the Grant Management team know what was in store. Yet within 15 minutes of starting the challenge the cheerful team had two flat tyres, then further into the challenge Malcolm’s peddle decided to come off, then again, and again and again! By lunch time the weather had turned from being bright and warm to rain and a strong cold wind.
Lunch was swiftly followed by a jump into freezing water 5ft deep. Exit from the loch was only to get kayaks and get back into the water.
Were the Grant Management team cold? Indeed! Yet they continued on for the next 3 hours, cold, wet and tired. The brave team tried to complete as much as possible.
A great achievement against all odds, coming in 54th place out of 71 teams.
Well done to the team! A great achievement with so much against them.

Grant Management Mural Unveiled!
April 17, 2008
Student on Scotland’s most environmentally friendly campus have designed a stunning wall mural as past of a competition sponsored by letting company Grant Management and their charity Global Trees.
The winning design, by student Ishy Walters, will be unveiled on Thursday and will sit in the universities internet café, a prominent position within the new campus.
It is hoped the design will inspire students to adopt environmentally friendlier ways of living, and it signifies a commitment between the university and the carbon neutral company to further embrace sustainable ways of living and building.
Founder of Grant Management and Global Trees Peter Grant said:
“Helping the planet is a big issue for the students and young professionals who form the bulk of our tenants, and it a big issue for us as a business. Property accounts for 52% of all carbon emissions, so by going carbon neutral we’re offering students the choice to live in a more sustainable way.
“We are delighted to be sponsoring this mural - supporting Queen Margaret University in their goal to create a low carbon university allows us to extend that message.”
Student winner Ishy Walters said: ‘I am thrilled to have won the Grant Management / Global Trees Mural competition to raise awareness of environmental impact. I really hope that this bright positive visual image will encourage people to work together and make the changes which will have a real impact in supporting the ecology of our natural world.”
Principal and Vice-Chancellor of Queen Margaret University Anthony P. Cohen added:
" The mural competition was an ideal vehicle for our students’ creativity, and has been an excellent demonstration of their talent and imagination. We are delighted to have Grant Management as our corporate partner supporting our commitment to environmental sustainability. We look forward to developing our relationship in the future."
Washing machine not working? Wait, Barry has the answer!
January 23, 2008
Barry, our repairs guru and YouTube star (honestly, he was stopped in Woolworths just the other day) has another quick and handy hint for you.
Admittedly this one will be a “well, duh” for those of you who have been doing your own laundry since Whistler’s Mother accidentally threw a black sock into her white wash and ended up posing for the gloomiest painting in creation.
But, honestly, there are plenty of Grant Management tenants who are brand new to this whole wash-your-own clothes thing and need a quick primer with the washing machine. No shame in that at all.
This then, is for that moment when you first load the machine with your smalls, tip the powder in, switch on the washer – and nothing happens!
Another consummate performance from Barry. (Oh and did you notice he still has that big plaster on his finger? Nasty).
Building on our success

Congratulations to these heroes of our development team, Tony Williams (above) and Trevor Bone (below), who both received their construction industry (CITB) certificates this week.
And, look, there is Garry Wardall, group operations director, handing over the certificates.
For those who don’t know, CITB is commited to creating a skilled and qualified workforce for the building industry in the UK.
